Akwaaba means "welcome" in Twi,
one of the languages spoken by most people here.
I've heard it about 150 times since landing in Ghana Wednesday morning.
Scrabble must be big here.
Or maybe they just know that Westerners are crazy about it.
The huge variety in the size/shape/weight/height
of items carried on women's heads is incredible.
I don't know how they do it...maybe someone will teach me.
Breakfast is super tame, but it includes best pineapple I've ever had.
Yellow and white varieties.
I didn't even know there was more than one kind of pineapple.
And how cool is it to eat a banana that actually grew in the country you're in?!
Pretty cool actually.
And delicious.
These are the girls of the Morning Star School in Accra.
The school is one of the best private schools in Ghana for K-9th grade.
The students are adorable and so sweet and smart and awesome.
Here is one such student :)
The boys LOVED Matko.
They cleverly turned him into a human basketball goal.
Ahh the perks of being six and a half feet tall.
And here we are with the director of the school (a UGA grad woof woof).
This is the social work section of our UGA group.
Ghana is the best and I know it will only get better.
More to come!
